USTFCCCA Honors Woods

GENESEO, N.Y.Mike Woods of the Geneseo men’s and women’s track & field teams has been named Atlantic Region Women's Outdoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

In his 22nd season at Geneseo (where he also serves as the head men’s and women’s cross country coach), Woods has coached five athletes who’ll be competing at this weekend’s NCAA Championships: Alyssa Smith (seeded second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 17th in the 5,000-meter run), the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Track Athlete of the Year; Alex Brimstein (seeded 16th in the 5,000-meter run), Chris Carter (seeded 16th in the 800-meter run), Allison Hoh (seeded fourth in the 400-meter hurdles), Cailin Kowalewski (seeded ninth in the 1,500-meter run) and Keira Wood (seeded 21st in the 800-meter run).  Carter, Hoh and Smith all set school records in their event this spring.
