La Crosse, Wis. – Three Knights competed in Thursday’s opening day of competition at the NCAA Championships.
In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Allison Hoh (Honeoye Fails/Honeoye Falls-Lima) placed eighth in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles to earn a spot in Saturday’s final. Hoh, seeded fourth in the event, placed second in her heat with a time of 61.49. She’ll be one of nine competitors in Saturday’s final with the top eight finishers earning all-America honors.
Graduate student Alyssa Smith (Rochester/Brighton) won her heat in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:38.47. The second seed in the race, she recorded the second-best time during Thursday’s preliminaries. Smith will join in 13 other runners in Saturday’s final.
In the 1,500-meter run, senior Cailin Kowalewski (Fredonia/Fredonia) finished 13th with a time of 4:37.13. She missed a berth in Saturday’s final by 0.76 seconds.
Competition continues Friday and concludes Saturday.
