Geneseo Wraps Up Competition At NCAA Championships

La Crosse, Wis. – The Geneseo track & field teams wrapped up competition at the NCAA Championships Saturday, with their performance highlighted by Alyssa Smith’s national championship in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Smith was one of two Knights to earn all-America honors Saturday; junior Allison Hoh (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles. Her time of 1:00.73 broke her own school record. Hoh earned all-America recognition for the second time this year – she ran on the Knights’ third-place distance medley relay team at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March.

Smith also competed in the 5,000-meter run. She finished 14th in 17:17.22.

Senior Alex Brimstein (Webster/Thomas) rounded out Geneseo’s entrants in Saturday’s events. He placed 11th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:42.10.

The all-America finishes by Smith and Hoh gave the women’s team good for 18th in the team standings.
