GENESEO, N.Y.
 – A total of 175 SUNY Geneseo student-athletes were recognized for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom today by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) as the All-Academic Team and the Commissioner’s List for the spring semester were released.

The All-Academic Team included 166 Knights, while the Commissioner’s List included 98 honorees from Geneseo. A total of 87 student-athletes were named dual honorees, landing recognition on both lists.

The list included 38 women’s track & field members, as well as honorees from the men’s track & field (26), women’s lacrosse (20), women’s swimming & diving (19), equestrian (16), men’s ice hockey (13), men’s swimming & diving (12), men’s lacrosse (12), men’s basketball (9), softball (7) and women’s basketball (3) programs. All winter and spring teams are honored, even if they are not SUNYAC sponsored sports.

To be eligible for the SUNYAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have been a member of a winter or spring varsity team this past semester and compiled a grade point average of 3.3 or better. A cumulative 3.3 GPA over at least three semesters enrolled at the member institution was necessary to be considered for Commissioner’s List recognition.

This brings the total number of Geneseo athletes honored over the entire 2012-13 year to 260, as 85 Knights were also recognized following the completion of the fall semester. Cortland, which has five more sports than Geneseo, was the only SUNYAC member to have more total honorees (289) than Geneseo.  Cortland also sponsors football, baseball, women’s gymnastics, women’s ice hockey, wrestling and women’s golf, but does not have equestrian.
