GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo men’s basketball team was named one of 95 recipients of the inaugural National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award, while three Knights were named to the 2012-13 NABC Honors Court, announced Thursday.
Senior guard Marcus Hoy (mathematics), junior guard Thomas Decker (business administration) and junior guard Connor Fedge (psychology) joined over 700 other honorees from across the country in garnering the honor.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, each team had to have accumulated a minimum grade point average of 3.0. To be eligible for the Honors Court, individuals must have been at least a junior during the season, have earned a minimum 3.2 grade point average and matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
Teams and individuals from NCAA Division I, II and III as well as NAIA Division I and II were eligible for both awards.
Thirteenth-year head coach Steve Minton and the Knights finished the season with a 17-10 record, while making their third appearance in the SUNYAC Tournament semifinals in the last four years.
