Heather Acomb, a 2006 SUNY Geneseo graduate,  will present her  work,  "Ode," during Geneseo's  "Stepping Into Time" program.

GENESEO, N.Y. - The State University of New York at Geneseo will feature works by faculty, students and a guest alumna during its "Stepping Into Time" concert Dec. 10-12 in the college's Alice Austin Theater in Brodie Hall. The Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m. The Sunday matinee begins at 2 o'clock.

Heather Acomb, a 2006 SUNY Geneseo graduate, will present her master of fine arts thesis work, titled "Ode," during the program. She premiered the composition in March 2009 at the College at Brockport.

Professor of dance and concert co-director Jonette Lancos takes her audience back in time with her restaging of the classical "Pas De Quartre," originally choreographed by Anton Dolin in 1941. Co-director Ruben Ornelas, assistant professor of dance, will present "Herstories," the quirky exploration of the personalities of six dancers.

Works by three senior students are part of the program. Lauren Crispino's "School Daze," is an upbeat contemporary work that captures the reality of school lectures; Sylvia Nelson's "An Epic Reincarnate" is an inspired interpretation of the Sanskrit epic "The Ramayana;" and Lauren Pajer's "Inevitable" is an intense work that explores the constant cycle of changes within humanity.

Student directors for the production are Allison Bohman and Brittany Phillips. The production staff includes Johnnie Ferrell, technical director; Andrew Tao Li and Jake Fine, lighting designers; Crystal Ferrell, costume designer; and Megan Ball, stage manager.

Tickets for the concert are $7 for reserved seating and are available by visiting the Brodie Hall Box Office or, or by calling (585) 245-5833.

The Geneseo Dance Ensemble is sponsored by the Academic Affairs Committee, Student Association, Alumni Association, The Geneseo Foundation, Orchesis Dance Organization, and the School of the Arts.
