'What is Education for Sustainability?' 4/16

Jason Hamilton, associate professor of environmental studies and science at Ithaca College, will present a keynote lecture entitled "What is Education for Sustainability?" at 2:30pm on Monday, April 16 in Milne 105.  The event is free and open to the public.

Hamilton teaches courses in natural history; land management; wilderness awareness and survival skills;non-timber forest products (maple syrup, edible mushrooms, bees) and environmental chemistry and environmental physics. He is co-founder of the Finger Lakes Project that runs faculty development workshops for incorporating sustainability across the curriculum, and lectures across the region on topics of sustainability in education. Hamilton is co-chair and faculty manager for Ithaca College Natural Lands, the committee that oversees the use and stewardship of the college's natural areas. He is also co-founder of New Roots Charter High School in Ithaca, NY, a public high school dedicated to sustainability and social justice.
