GENESEO, N.Y. - One of the country's most successful contemporary dance companies, Parsons Dance, will bring its artistry to the State University of New York at Geneseo's Wadworth Auditorium Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. The company tours nationally and internationally with a formula of technical precision, wit and physicality to produce works that are optimistic, energetic, sexy and athletic.
The company of 10 full-time dancers maintains a repertory of more than 70 American works choreographed by David Parsons, 20 of which feature originally commissioned scores by leading composers and musicians, including Dave Matthews, Michael Gordon and Milton Nascimento.
"David Parsons returned to the Joyce Theater with a clear intention: to give the audience a boost. Mr. Parsons likes to please," wrote a New York Times reviewer earlier this year.
Tickets are $16 for the general public; $8 for children 12 and younger; $6 for Geneseo students; and $13 for Geneseo faculty, staff and alumni. They are available by calling (585) 245-5873 or (800) 525-2070 or by visiting the Student Association Ticket Office on the first floor of the MacVittie College Union.
The performance is sponsored by the Geneseo Student Association.
