Stacey Wiley Named Career Services Director

GENESEO, N.Y. - The State University of New York at Geneseo has named Stacey Wiley administrative director of career development. She will oversee all aspects of Geneseo's career development programs and services for students, bringing to the job an extensive record of achievement as a student affairs administrator, attorney and businessperson.

"The country is enduring a challenging employment market, but I can't imagine someone with a stronger background to advise our students on job acquisition and other postgraduate options," said Robert Bonfiglio, vice president for student and campus life. "Her breadth of experience and knowledge will serve our students well, and we are delighted to have her on campus."

Wiley comes to Geneseo from Upstate College Planning Services of the Rochester/Syracuse area, where she was vice president. The company helped college-bound high-school students and their parents through the college exploration, application, admission and financial aid process.

Prior to that, she had positions as assistant dean for student and career services at Quinnipiac University; associate director for career services at Cornell University; associate attorney at the Syracuse firm Scolaro, Shulman, Cohen, Fetter & Burstein; undergraduate adviser at the Syracuse University College of Arts and Sciences; and school counselor in the Liverpool (N.Y.) Central School District.

Wiley earned her juris doctorate at the Syracuse University College of Law; her master's degree in counseling, also from Syracuse; and her bachelor's degree in English cum laude from SUNY Cortland. She is a member of the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASAP) and the National Career Development Association. She also is a member of the New York State Bar.

She is very active in the Syracuse community as a volunteer for the United Way of Central New York and a volunteer puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. She also is an avid runner, cyclist and golfer.

Wiley succeeds Jerry Wrubel, who retired last year as long-time director of Geneseo's career services office. Assistant Director Liz Seager served as interim director after Wrubel's retirement.
