Cory Gershon Named RAVA Scholar

GENESEO, N.Y. - The Rochester AudioVisual Association (RAVA) has named senior communication major Cory Gershon one of six Rochester-area RAVA Scholars. He received the honor recently at the organization's 36th Annual Media Scholar Awards Banquet in Rochester, N.Y.

The RAVA Scholar Award is presented annually to select area college students who show promise in media production and have brought honor to their profession and colleges. RAVA Scholars each receive a cash award and the privilege of showing samples of their audio or video-based media work to the Rochester-area professionals who are members of RAVA.

Gershon has also been a four-year starter as a goalie for the SUNY Geneseo Ice Knights Division III hockey team. He is the son of Eric and Elizabeth Gershon of Sparta, N.J.

Last year's Geneseo RAVA Scholar, Erik Talbot, has been accepted for graduate study at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications. Another previous Geneseo RAVA scholar, Rachel Kingston, is a news reporter at WIVB-TV in Buffalo.
