The Department of Mathematics at the State University of New York College at Geneseo invites applications for a two-year term (non-tenure track) position as a Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning August 2012.
Located in the Genesee Valley some 30 miles south of Rochester, SUNY Geneseo is a highly selective institution consistently rated among the top public liberal arts colleges in the country. The Department of Mathematics (19 members) offers a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Mathematics Education, along with applied minors for students majoring in other academic departments. The Department encompasses both pure and applied mathematics as well as a secondary mathematics teacher preparation program. Approximately 60-65 mathematics majors graduate each year.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or Statistics, by August 2012 is required. Recent and proven expertise as a teacher of mathematics and/or statistics. Enthusiastic commitment to undergraduate instruction at all levels. Potential for scholarly growth.
Preferred Qualifications: Training and/or experience in Mathematics Education or Statistics. Experience in mentoring undergraduate research or in the training of student teachers.
