The Department of Mathematics at the State University of New York College at Geneseo invites applications for a one-year (non-tenure track) position as a Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning August 2015.
Located in the Genesee Valley some 30 miles south of Rochester, SUNY Geneseo is a highly selective institution consistently rated among the top public liberal arts colleges in the country, with an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 5300 students. The Department of Mathematics (21 members) offers a BA in Mathematics and an MS in Mathematics Education, along with applied minors for students majoring in other academic departments. The Department encompasses both pure and applied mathematics as well as a very strong secondary mathematics teacher preparation program. With 300 majors, of whom approximately 25% are in the secondary certification program, mathematics is the 6th largest major on campus.
Required Qualifications: PhD in Mathematics by August 2015. Recent and documented expertise as a teacher of mathematics. Enthusiastic commitment to undergraduate instruction at all levels. Potential for scholarly growth.
Preferred Qualifications: Research background in analysis, broadly defined. Interest in mentoring undergraduate research.
