CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR FEB. 12-18

THURSDAY, FEB. 12:

LEDERER GALLERY EXHIBIT: The Bertha V.B. Lederer Gallery, William A. Brodie Hall, presents the Art Arena Group. The gallery is open daily from 2-4:30 p.m. and Thursdays 12-8 p.m. Free and open to the public. The exhibit runs through Friday, Feb. 13.

FILM: The International Film Series presents the film "Etre et avoir (To Be and To Have)." The film is in French with English subtitles. France's largest grossing and highly praised documentary film, Etre et avoir spans one year in the life of Georges Lopez, a 55-year-old teacher of a one-room school house in the rural, farming region of Auvergne, France. Its director, Nicolas Phillibert, "helps us see that nothing can be more important than the way a child is taught, no one more crucial than the teacher who teaches well" (Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune). Awarded Best French Film of the year at Cannes. The discussant will be Foreign Languages and Literatures Teaching Assistant Magali Tenias. 7 p.m., International Cinema Center, Guy A. Bailey Hall Auditorium (135). Free and open to the public

FRIDAY, FEB. 13:

ART EXHIBITION: The Opus Gallery presents an art exhibition featuring Heather Brosman. Gallery hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Free and open to the public. Exhibit to run through Sunday Feb. 22.
