SUNY Geneseo President's Lecture on Diversity to
Feature Chief Diversity Officer for Sodexho Dec. 7
GENESEO, N.Y. — Rohini Anand, senior vice president
and chief diversity officer for Sodexho, will deliver the college's third
annual President's Lecture on Diversity at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the
MacVittie College Union Ballroom at the State University of New York at
Geneseo. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Widely recognized in the area of diversity and inclusion,
Anand is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation and alignment
of Sodexho's integrated global diversity initiatives and strategy. Sodexho is
the largest provider of food and facilities management in the U.S. and Canada,
with 130,000 employees and $5.5 billion in annual sales.
Her talk is titled "Creating a Culture of Inclusion at Sodexho
— A Sustainable Strategy for Organizational Success." Following the talk,
Geneseo President Christopher C. Dahl will host a reception in the Fireside
Lounge in the union.
Before joining Sodexho, Anand was vice president and
director of training at the National MultiCultural Institute, where she
designed, developed and implemented organizational change initiatives for
domestic and global clients including Fortune 500 companies, non-profit
organizations, educational institutions and government agencies. Her consulting
work involved organizational assessments, training, strategic planning,
benchmarking and coaching. She has made numerous appearances on national
television to talk about organizational change and diversity, and has authored
several books. Among her publications are
"Customizing Diversity Training Using Case Vignettes," "Multicultural Case
Studies: Tools for Training," "Teaching Skills and Cultural Competence: A Guide
for Trainers" and "Cultural Competency in Health Care: A Guide for Trainers."
She received her Ph.D. in Asian
Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and an M.A. in Diplomatic
History from Ohio University.
In her prior role as Vice President, Diversity with Sodexho,
Anand was responsible for Sodexho's Affirmative Action and Diversity
initiatives. In this role, she provided leadership for Sodexho's diversity
strategy and its integration into Sodexho's strategic imperatives, and its
human resources and business structures and processes.
Anand is on the board of the MultiCultural Foodservice and
Hospitality Alliance, a national non-profit
organization that promotes the economic benefits of diversity in the food
service and hospitality industry, and the Women's Foodservice Form, the largest
membership organization for women in the food service industry. She also chairs
the Professional Competencies Committee for the Diversity Leadership Forum, a
national organization for diversity practitioners, and is on the board of the
National MultiCultural Institute, a non-profit organization in D.C. Anand
has a doctorate from the University of Michigan.
