KINETIC GALLERY:Paul Dodd is a Rochester-area artist who has worked as a graphic artist for the Crime Analysis Unit of the Rochester Police Department, where he was responsible for handling mugshots. During his time spent in this unit, he became "infatuated with the range of expressions – the nonverbal communication of emotions – and the reactions that we have in looking at these point blank head shots." As a student of Fritz Lipp at the Creative Workshop at the Memorial Art Gallery, Dodd's use of non-traditional subject matter in his work makes his work particularly thought-provoking, pressing the viewer to wonder about the full nature of the individual staring out from the canvas. It's no wonder Dodd finds that "these photos of members of our community are as interesting as classical portraits". Dodd will display his work at 7 p.m.  The exhibit is free and open to the public.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29:
MILNE LIBRARY:  (See Monday, August 27).
