SUNY Geneseo Calendar of Events for Sept. 13-19

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13:
MILNE LIBRARY:  The Corporate and Business Partners of SUNY Geneseo are sponsoring the Heavens Above exhibit, a series of transparencies and interactive media from deep space captured by the Hubble Space Telescope while orbiting the earth over the past 16 years.  The exhibit will be on display from August 27 to December 14.  For more information http://heavensabove.geneseo.edu/.

LEDERER GALLERY:  The Bertha V.B. Lederer Gallery in Brodie Hall presents a ceramics exhibit.  The gallery is open noon-4 p.m. Sundays–Wednesdays and 5-8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays.  The exhibit runs through Friday, Sept. 21, and is free and open to the public.

LOCKHART GALLERY:  The Lockhart Gallery, located in the McClellan House, 26 Main St., Geneseo, presents the Richard Beale Exhibit.  An opening reception will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 13.  The exhibit runs through Friday, October 12.  The gallery is open noon-4 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and noon-8 p.m. Thursdays.  For more information http://www.geneseo.edu/news/nrap.php?pg=LockhartGala.html.

AUTHOR:  Paul Loeb, author of "Soul of a Citizen," "The Impossible Will Take a Little While," and "Generation at a Crossroads," will speak on Soul of the Citizen: Hope in Times of Fear from 7-8 p.m. in the MacVittie College Union Ballroom.  

SPORTS:  Women's field hockey vs. Elmira. 4:30 p.m., Upper Merritt.  Free and open to the public.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19:
HARDING LECTURE:  The fourth annual Walter Harding lecture will be held at 4:30 p.m. in 204 Newton.  A reception will follow in the Harding Lounge in 111 Welles Hall. Betsy Erkkila, Henry Sanborn Noyes Professor of Literature at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., will deliver her talk, titled "Romancing the Revolution: Jefferson's Declaration."  The talk is free and open to the public.
