Jason A. Amore of Avon appointed
Director of the Fund for SUNY Geneseo
GENESEO,
N.Y.—Jason A. Amore has been appointed director of the Fund for Geneseo
at the State University of New York at Geneseo.
Amore comes to Geneseo from Alfred University, where he has
served as director of major gifts since 2004. In his new role, Amore will serve
as a key player in the college's new effort to strengthen private support and
increase its donor base. He will develop strategies to identify, cultivate and
solicit donors; work closely with the Annual Giving Director to plan, organize
and implement annual fund programs to raise private support by direct mail,
phonathon and special targeted marketing efforts; and work closely with
students, faculty and staff to assist in the organization and implementation of
a range of college events. He assumed his new role June 12.
Amore brings to his new role extensive experience in reunion
and athletic fund-raising initiatives, said Kim Faber, director of annual
giving for the college.
"As we look to significantly increase our annual fund
program, we couldn't be more pleased with Jason's experience and
accomplishments in development. He will be a great addition to the team," said
Faber.
Amore received his bachelor's degree in communication
studies in 1997 and his master's degree in professional studies in community
services administration in 1999 from Alfred University.
"I am honored to be joining the
Geneseo team, and I look forward to working with Vice President
Richard Dressner and Kim Faber, along with all the other advancement
professionals to further the mission of the Geneseo Foundation," said Amore.
Previously, Amore served as corporate sponsorship and ticket
sales associate for the University of Buffalo's Division of Athletics and as
field communications manager for General Motors Regional Works. Before that, he
was an athletic administrative intern for Fordham University's Division of
Athletics and a graduate assistant for facilities and special events for Alfred
University's Division of Athletics.
While an undergraduate student at Alfred, Amore played on
the varsity basketball team, serving as team captain from 1995-97. He was named
most valuable player following the 1996 season and is the fifth all-time
leading scorer in the history of the college.
Amore lives in Avon, N.Y., with his wife, Jodi.
