Mix of College, Village Events to Make Summer Reunion 2009 One to Remember

GENESEO, N.Y. – State University of New York at Geneseo alumni returning for Summer Reunion 2009 July 10-11 will experience a weekend full of activities on campus and in the village.

The reunion coincides with the village’s annual Summer Festival and the Geneseo Air Show.  Most of the Summer Festival activities are scheduled in the Village Park next to the campus.

“The college and village will be bustling with activities both on the ground and in the air and this combination of events available to all of our returning alumni will be terrific,” said Rose Anderson, assistant vice president for alumni relations.  “Our wonderful reunion program will provide social and educational opportunities for alumni to reconnect with classmates and faculty, and the community events will definitely add to their enjoyment of the weekend,” she said. 

All Geneseo alumni are welcome to attend the reunion.  The Alumni Association has planned special celebrations for the classes of 1929, 1934, 1939, 1944, 1949, 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1983 and 84, 1989 and 1994.

In addition to numerous class-specific events and celebrations at the reunion, the college is conducting an Alumni College, where alumni may attend courses taught by Geneseo faculty on such topics as “Thriving in Today’s Economy,” “Social Networking” or “The Physics of Baseball.”  Also planned are walking tours of campus, science demonstrations, art gallery exhibits and more.
