Denise Rotondo Named New Dean of the School of Business

GENESEO, N.Y. -- SUNY Geneseo has named Denise Rotondo the new dean of the School of Business.

Rotondo comes to Geneseo from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C., where she served as dean of business for seven years and also held the academic title of professor of management.

“I’m delighted to welcome Dr. Rotondo to this important leadership position in our business school,” said Geneseo Interim Provost David Gordon. “She brings outstanding administrative and academic credentials to Geneseo that will bolster the already strong reputation the school enjoys. She knows what is needed for business education in the 21st century and that expertise, combined with her outgoing personality, will benefit students, faculty and the entire campus community.”

Rotondo received her doctorate in business administration from Florida State University with an emphasis on organizational behavior and human resource management. She also earned a master’s degree from Florida State and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with the incredibly talented students who attend Geneseo and with the faculty, who have created a strong educational foundation for these students,” said Rotondo. “Our majors must enter the business world with the kind of well-stocked tool box that Geneseo provides, and combining liberal arts with professional education creates great synergy. A good business student must be able to think critically, have excellent communication skills and a keen sense of their world – skills beyond just a functional expertise in one professional area.”

Rotondo, an avid ice hockey fan, lives with her husband, Joel. They have three children.

Gordon praised the work of Walter Roettger, who had been serving as interim dean of the business school. The school has more than 850 students with a variety of undergraduate programs and a master’s degree program in accounting.
