Geneseo, NY -- The Geneseo Blue Knights currently rank 20 out of 214 scoring institutions in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup, developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegeiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Approximately 440 institutions in Division III vie for Directors' Cup points.
Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Division III championship finish in up to 14 sports: seven women's and seven men's. Geneseo is the only SUNY institution, and only one of three New York State schools, to place in the top 20.
The Knights also lead the SUNYAC Commissioner's Cup standings following the winter season, accumulating 115 points in the 14 completed sports for an average of 8.21 points per sport.
The Knights earned the maximum of 10 points for SUNYAC championships in men's indoor track and field, men's and women's swimming and diving. Women's indoor track and field collected nine points for a second-place finish, while the women's basketball team amassed 7.25 points, ice hockey totaled seven points and men's basketball collected two points.
