GENESEO, N.Y.—The Geneseo Symphony Orchestra will not only include its orchestra of close to 70 musicians for its April 9 performance, but it will also feature the Geneseo student winners from the 2015 Concerto Competition.

The December 2015 Concerto Competition student winners that will be in attendance are junior soprano Francesca DiGiorgio, senior mezzo-soprano Alexandra Imbrosci, junior soprano Sarah Sharrin, junior violinist Joseph Tadros, senior marimba player Naomi Wilson and senior horn player Katherine Zaslavsky.

“The concert will open with four movements from Tchaikovsky's beautiful Swan Lake Suite,” said Jim Tiller, conductor of the Geneseo Symphony Orchestra and assistant professor of music. “Following that, we will showcase six student winners from the December 2015 Concerto Competition.”

In addition to the six student performers, the orchestra will unite other Geneseo student players with the music faculty members. A plethora of the music faculty members are also members of such groups as The Geneseo Wind Quintet and The Geneseo Piano Trio. Similarly, Tiller is also principal percussionist and assistant principal timpanist of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in addition to being the conductor of the Geneseo Symphony Orchestra.

“The concert will conclude with a great orchestral showpiece, ‘Danse Bacchanale’ from Samson and Dalila by Saint-Saens!" said Tiller.

Free and open to the public, the concert will take place in Wadsworth Auditorium at 3 p.m. on April 9—all are welcome to attend.

“You will not want to miss these amazing young musicians,” said Tiller.
