GENESEO, N.Y. -- The Geneseo Wind Quintet will perform Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. at the Central Presbyterian Church, 31 Center St. in Geneseo. The concert is free and open to the public.
On the program are Andrejs Jansons "Suite of Old Lettish Dances;" Jean-Philppe Rameau's "Suite in G" (arranged by Ryohei Nakagawa; Gordon Jacob's "Seven Bagatelles" for solo oboe; and Eric Ewazen's "Roaring Fork."
Quintet members include Glennda Dove Pellito (flute), Anna Steltenpohl (oboe), Ernest Lascell (clarinet); Martha Sholl (bassoon), and Mary Hunt (horn).
The Geneseo Wind Quintet, in residence at the college for over 30 years, has acquired a well-deserved reputation as one of the foremost wind quintets in the region. The group has appeared on PBS, at numerous conventions, and in a wide variety of chamber music series.
In addition to their appearances within the group, members of the quintet frequently perform in other ensembles in the area, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. All members of the quintet teach their respective instruments to wind majors and other qualified students at the college, and also coach various chamber ensembles.
