GENESEO, N.Y. – Master teacher and performer of Hindustani classical music, Nagaraj Havaldar, will present a lecture and demonstration at SUNY Geneseo Oct. 9 from 2:30 – 3:45 in Brodie Hall Room 208. The Department of Music is hosting the event, which is free and open to the public.

Havaldar is on a concert tour in the United States, and Geneseo student Rahul Thandla, a vocal performance and biology double major, studies with Havaldar during the summers in India and was responsible for arranging his visit to campus. At Geneseo, Rahul is a student of Pamela Kurau, assistant professor of music.

"We are all excited to have Dr. Havaldar on campus and to learn more about Indian classical music," said Kurau. "This genre of music is not commonly taught on American college campuses so it will be a special experience for all of us."
