To the College Community:
I'm saddened to report the tragic and untimely death of one of our students, Joseph Glantey, in an automobile accident on Wednesday morning. A senior math major and transfer from SUNY Binghamton, Joseph was driving back to campus following an ROTC physical training session at RIT, when his car skidded and collided with a truck. The death of a student is one of the most difficult events we ever face in a campus community. At this sad time, we send our deepest sympathy to Joseph's family, friends and fellow students, and especially those students at Geneseo and RIT who joined him in the ROTC program.
Joseph entered Geneseo through our Access Opportunity Program and was an academically talented, promising student who was actively involved with his campus and community and dedicated to the service of his country. We mourn his death and are making counselors available through Lauderdale Student Health and Counseling Center for individuals who wish to avail themselves of this service. At the current time, funeral or memorial arrangements are pending. We shall inform the college community when further information is available. Every loss of a student diminishes our community, and we grieve the passing of this young man from our midst.
