Each panelist will respond to this question, "How do we collaborate to support high quality teacher candidates and student success?"

SUNY Geneseo’s Ella Cline Shear School of Education through the support of SUNY is hosting a NY State Teacher Certification Exam Information Summit on May 2, 2014 in conjunction with the Annual Xerox Center for Multicultural Teacher Education Conference. The summit’s theme is “Supporting Teacher Candidates' Success with Certification Exams through Collaboration and Communication”. The Xerox conference theme is supporting English language learners in the classroom. The conference and summit are free of charge and include continental breakfast and lunch.

  • The summit and conference will bring together teachers, administrators, faculty, teacher candidates, college supervisors, and field experience coordinators from Western NY high schools and colleges.
  • Personnel from NY State Department of Education will present information about the new teacher certification exams including the Educator Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA), Educating All Students Test (EAS), Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST), and Revised Content Specialty Tests (CST).
  • Morning workshops will provide information about new certification exams and ways to support English language learners in the classroom.
  • Afternoon sessions will provide opportunities to network and continue the conversation about topics related to teacher certification and supporting English language learners.
