Search Timeline

You are strongly encouraged to assist the Isaacson, Miller consultants in their recruitment by sending them names of potential candidates to kbarry@IMsearch.com or gmerseth@IMsearch.com. The more candidates we can generate from those who know Geneseo best, the stronger the pool.

Please be reminded that the work of the Search Committee is absolutely confidential until the on-campus interviews. The Search Committee will not be able to share any information throughout the process outside of the committee.

World Cafés to gather input from the College and local community on expectations for the next President.

June 25

Chancellor Zimpher gives her charge to the Search Committee.

Consultants from Isaacson, Miller visit campus to gather data about the College and meet with constituents about their expectations for the next president.

July 18

Consultants develop the position announcement and the Presidential Profile, in consultation with the Search Committee and with the approval of the SUNY Office of Presidents and Leadership Initiatives.

Position announcement placed in print and electronic outlets.

Consultants recruit candidates for the position. The campus community, emeriti, Foundation Board, Alumni Council, Geneseo Alumni Association, local community, and other friends and interested parties are encouraged to send names of possible candidates, with any information you can provide, to Kate Barry at kbarry@IMsearch.com.

Search Committee receives link to candidate materials.

October 14

Search Committee meets to decide the 10 to 12 candidates to invite for first-round off-campus interviews (candidates’ identities still strictly confidential). The candidates are shared with SUNY.

First-round interviews.

November 2

Search committee decides on about 5 finalists to bring to campus for interviews.

November 12
November 25

On-campus interviews. Opportunities will be provided for the College community and other constituents to meet with the finalists and provide online feedback.

November 25

Search Committee and College Council review feedback from the campus interviews. Search Committee recommends 3 to 5 finalists to College Council, sharing their reasoning and decision-making process.

Early December

College Council recommends three candidates to the SUNY Chancellor.

December 2014

SUNY Chancellor and her senior leadership interview the recommended candidates.

January 2015

The chosen candidate is proposed to the Board of Trustees at their January meeting for their approval.

Summer 2015

The new president begins his or her work at Geneseo.
