Three staff members are recognized for their expertise, commitment to their profession and students, and service.
On Oct. 22, Tom Matthews, associate dean of leadership and service, was presented with the College Student Personnel Association of New York State Outstanding Contribution to the Profession Award at the organization's annual conference. The award honors a member of the student affairs profession working in New York for outstanding service or significant contributions to the field of student affairs.
During last weekend's National Association of Campus Activities Mid-Atlantic Conference, Associate Director of College Union and Activities Carey Backman was awarded the NACA Outstanding Professional Award. The award is presented to a staff member from NACA institutions who, among other successes, has demonstrated commitment to the profession, is regarded by colleagues as an educator and displays genuine support and regard for students.
Tom Reho, instructional support specialist of the biology department, will be inducted to the Canandaigua City School Athletic Hall of Fame this year for his accomplishments on the field and giving back to his community as a teen and as an adutl. At Canandaiagua, Reho was a lacrosse defender and football lineman, who was chosen as a 1st team All-League player for both sports in high school. He later helped his lacrosse team at Hobart College win three national championships. Reho now serves as a member of the Cananaigua school district Board of Education, is a member of the Canandaigua Aquatics Parent Advisory Board and assists with coaching in the girl's youth lacrosse program.
