GENESEO, N.Y. – Ronna Bosko, a senior major gifts officer in SUNY Geneseo's advancement division, has been named director of alumni and parent relations at the college, effective June 6. She will lead a team focused on programs, events and other initiatives designed to engage Geneseo alumni and parents.
"We had strong candidates for this key advancement position, but Ronna's depth of experience, enthusiasm and leadership skills gave her the edge," said Bill Brower, Geneseo's vice president for advancement. "She keenly understands the important relationships alumni have with their alma mater. Her ability to reinforce those bonds will serve Geneseo well as the college continues to expand its national footprint and involve our alumni all over the country in the college's remarkable success. I'm eagerly looking forward to having Ronna on the advancement leadership team."
During her three years at Geneseo as a major gifts officer, Bosko has been instrumental in numerous successful philanthropic initiatives, including the formation of alumni committees in eight regions of the country, resulting in significant support of the college's "Shaping Lives of Purpose" capital campaign, which is nearing its $22 million goal.
"I'm incredibly gratified and excited to be leading Geneseo's alumni and parent relations team at a time when the college's national reputation is stronger than it's ever been," said Bosko. "Combining that with our well-defined alumni network structure gives us a tremendous opportunity to earnestly connect more Geneseo alumni and parents to the college. I enthusiastically look forward to accomplishing that by working with the leaders of our Alumni Council and Geneseo Alumni Association, the Geneseo Foundation, parent groups, my advancement colleagues and the entire campus community."
Bosko is a seasoned alumni relations professional familiar with SUNY. Before coming to Geneseo, she served as director and associate director of alumni relations at SUNY Plattsburgh. She also worked as an admissions adviser at Plattsburgh after earning her bachelor's degree there in sociology, magna cum laude. She also received a master's degree at Plattsburgh in student affairs practice in higher education.
Michelle Worden, a 1992 Geneseo alumna, has been serving as Geneseo's interim director of alumni relations for the past year. She will return to her responsibilities as associate director when Bosko begins her duties.
The alumni and parent relations team works closely with colleagues in the other college advancement branches at Geneseo: college communications and a variety of fundraising enterprises.
