This weekend, while the Seahawks and the Broncos battle for the NFL championship, the Geneseo Knights will battle hunger on "Souper Bowl Saturday."
Fans who bring two or more cans of soup to the 7p.m. Ice Knights game against Potsdam on Feb. 1 at the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena will gain free admission or the chance to win prizes. All soup will be donated and delivered by Geneseo student-athletes to Livingston County food pantries. Those unavailable to make the game may drop off cans of soup in the athletic training room in the Merritt Athletic Center.
This is the second year the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation has hosted a "Souper Bowl" and one of many community service activities performed by campus organizations. Geneseo has been consistently represented in the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, which recognizes colleges and universities for their achievements in general community service or in areas aligned with the president's education and innovation priorities.
