Planning for Break
Listed below are the five options for bus transportation leaving for and returning from each break. Please remember that when using any type of mass transportation, customers should recognize that delays occasionally occur and plan accordingly. Taxis and car services are also another option, for more information please see Taxis and Car Services.
geneseo public bus service: regular route
When operating, the Geneseo-Rochester Weekend Service is a valuable, free with college ID way to get to the Greater Rochester International Airport, Trailways Bus Terminal, or Amtrak Station. The Megabus is now also an option as there is now a stop in downtown Rochester at the Broad Street Station Gate #8. No advance sign up is required as this is part of the regular route. Please always refer to most up to date Geneseo-Rochester Weekend Service Schedule to assure times are accurate and that service is operating (Bus Service Modifications and Curtailment).
geneseo public bus service: special break shuttle
This shuttle is free of cost with college ID, but space is limited so advance sign up through Parking & Transportation is required. Stops are made at the Greater Rochester International Airport, the Trailways Bus Terminal, and the Amtrak Station. student association sponsored shuttle
This shuttle is also free of cost with college ID. Space is limited so advanced sign up through the Student Association Ticket Office is required. Stops are made at the Greater Rochester International Airport, the Trailways Bus Terminal, and the Amtrak Station before and after Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, the end of the Fall Semester, the beginning of the Spring Semester, and Spring Break. There are no shuttles offered at the beginning of the Fall semester or the end of the Spring semester. Student Association Sponsored Vacation Bus
The Vacation Bus Program is a service that is coordinated and sponsored by the Student Association that provides buses for the various vacation breaks (Fall, Thanksgiving, Semester and Spring) to the downstate area for Geneseo students. Service for the program is provided by College Express Bus based in East Quogue, NY. This bus leaves the MacVittie College Union at midnight and makes its first stop in New Jersey at approximately 4:30am. Stops from there include Suffern, NYC Port Authority, NYC 42nd & 3rd, Queens, Roslyn, Westbury, Huntington, Commack, Ronkonkoma, Medford, and Manorville. tRAILWAYS BUS SERVICE in geneseo
This service is not free, but student discounts may be available via the local ticket office at Joe's Comics on Main Street. Please contact Joe's Comics at (585)243-4240 or Trailways at (800)295-5555 for more ticket information. Currently this service is available daily between Main Street, Geneseo and the Trailways Bus Terminal in Rochester. The current times are: depart Rochester 8:20AM, arrive Geneseo 9:05AM, depart Geneseo 6:00PM, arrive Rochester 6:45PM. Please always refer to most up to date Trailways schedule to assure times are accurate and that service is operating. More information can be found at www.trailwaysny.com.
