In fall of 2006, Shaun Beaulac, Niki Gaiter, and Chad Salitan started this club here at Geneseo. Niki and Chad were students, a junior and sophomore, respectively. Shaun was an AmeriCorps Vista volunteer with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. There were several meetings with college officials, constitution writing, and interest meetings among students. On October 23, 2006, the Club was officially recognized by the college.

The Club has run every semester since then. Through its commitment to be an active and helpful part of the community, the American Red Cross Club has initiated and participated in a great deal of programs that promote the ideals of the American Red Cross, which has included (but is not limited to):

1) On-campus blood drives, which occur bi-annually in the College Union Ballroom.

2) Certification classes such as CPR, Disaster Training, and International Humanitarian Law.

3) Supporting the local Red Cross chapter, from volunteering at the canteen during their blood drives to various other projects.

And many more! We are constantly look for new ideas, so if you have any other plans as to what we could do, please feel free to pitch them during our meetings!
