What to Bring to Campus
Welcome, Knights! As you plan for your life at Geneseo, you'll need to know what to bring to your new home. Though not all-inclusive, this list should help you decide which items to pack and which to leave behind.
Residence layouts and amenities vary, but each student is provided with a bed, desk, chair, closet space and dresser. Please visit the residence halls and Living-Learning Communities page for more information about individual residence halls, including video tours.

Items to Bring
- Household Goods: Consult our "what to bring" checklist [PDF] for a list of household goods and everyday items you might wish to bring to campus.
- Carpets: An 8’ by 10’ carpet will fit all rooms. All room floors are tiled except Erie Hall, where the bedrooms are carpeted.
- Microfridge or Mini-Fridge: Less than 2.0 amps at 120 volts AC/3.6 cubic feet. If you're interested in leasing a fridge, visit refrigerator leasing - http://www.refrigeratorleasing.com.
- Under Bed Storage: Most beds are adjustable (except some in Monroe Hall) and come at a bed height of approximately 30".
- Common Room Furniture: Suite common rooms come unfurnished. Many students choose to bring furniture with them for these spaces. Note the Saratoga Terrace Townhouses do come furnished.
- Saratoga Only - Shower Curtains: All corridor and suite bathrooms come with shower curtains in the bathrooms however shower curtains are not provided in Saratoga Townhouses.
What Not to Bring
- Microwave ovens (microfridges are allowed)
- Toaster ovens, hot plates or George Foreman type grill
- Candles or incense
- Pets (except fish), with the exception of approved service or comfort animals
- Firearms/weapons, fireworks, etc.
- Homemade lofts
- Any alcohol if you are under 21
- Space heaters or air conditioners
- Steel-tip darts or dart boards
- Compressed air or CO2 tanks
- Paintball markers
- Extension cords (their use is prohibited, along with the practice of “daisy-chaining” power strips)
- Tapestries, fabric wall hangings, or curtains
- Bead curtains
- Strip Lights with Tacky Adhesive (LED Strip Lights are popular, but not permitted due to damage caused during removal)

Phone Access
Residence hall rooms do not include land-line telephones. Instead, you will find a community "house phone" on most floors of each residence hall. On the house phone you can call campus and local phone numbers, including emergency numbers like 911 or University Police at x5222.
Water
In addition to shared kitchen space, most residence halls on campus have bottle-refilling stations, and we are in the process of adding more. So bring your reusable water bottle!
