Two renewable scholarships to full time undergraduates (one in TOP and one in EOP) with a minimum GPA of 2.75 maintained through the first two semesters (minimum of 24 graded hours within the freshman year). Preference will be given to students who demonstrate service to college or community by way of work study, temp. service, tutoring, or alternative volunteer work, as well as to those who demonstrate participation or achievement which distinguishes the student in his or her area of study. This scholarship was established in memory of Professor Bailey, Chair of the History Department, as a way to remember his outstanding service to the Access Opportunity Programs. Dr. Bailey was a loyal supporter of the AOP, volunteering many years of service to the program in various capacities. There will be two scholarships given in the amount of $400, along with a certificate of recognition. Applicants must be a current or intended major in one of the social science areas (history, anthropology, sociology, political science, etc.) and have: earned a cumulative GPA of 2.30 or higher or a minimum of twelve hours of letter grades (not P,F,S,U) at Geneseo; and demonstrate outstanding community service to socially disadvantaged groups,either on or off campus, within the past school year. Please note that preference will be given to students intending to pursue a major in history. A scholarship to a current EOP student who has an interest in pursuing studies in law or physical therapy. The scholarship is available to students from any major, but preference will be given to those majoring in philosophy, mathematics, or the social sciences. The recipient must have a minimum 2.75 GPA, earned a minimum of 12 hours of letter grades, and demonstrate a history of academic and personal achievement. This scholarship is supported by Claudius May-Parker '89 and Jennifer May-Parker '88.
$600 scholarship in memory of Dr. Ramon Rocha, the Director of the Transitional Opportunity Program from 1987 until his passing in 1996. Dr. Rocha devoted his professional career to increasing access to higher education for students from traditionally under represented ethnic groups and was an an untiring advocate for personal and academic excellence. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75, as well as completion of at least 3 semesters of full time attendance and earned a minimum of 30 credits. Supported by contributions to the Transitional Opportunity Program from alumni, faculty, staff and friends of Dr. Rocha.
A scholarship to an outstanding incoming student majoring in Childhood Education, based on ability and need. This scholarship is renewable up to 4 years, contigent on the recipient meeting a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA requirement each year. The recipient is selected by the Office of Admissions in consultation with the Office of Financial Aid. This scholarship is supported through an endowment established by Roy and Beverly McTarnaghan; both members of the Class of 1954. It is named in honor, and in memory, of McTarnaghan family members who have graduated from SUNY Geneseo.
Two $1,500 scholarships will be given annually to incoming freshmen who have been admitted into the Ella Cline Shear School of Education and plan to major in Childhood Special Education. The students who are selected must have an interest in teaching in an inclusion class or academic intervention services classroom with diverse learners from all backgrounds. A $5,000 scholarship to benefit a student who has overcome economic or personal challenges. The recipient of the scholarship must demonstrate financial need and maintain a good academic standing through graduation for annual renewal. Strong preference will be given to a student with unusual circumstances, such as those seeking a college education who are beyond the traditional 18-22 age; a young parent seeking an education; or a non-traditional student experiencing an adverse situation or hardship in life. A scholarship to a Horseheads High School graduating senior who has been accepted to SUNY Geneseo. Selection will be based on the student's academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and a personal statement of career interest. Prior to their deaths, State Senator William Smith and Mrs. Dorothy Nowak Smith '37 established this generous endowment fund as a memorial to their daughter, Mary Judith Smith Keleman, who was killed tragically by a drunk driver.
A scholarship to an active sister of Alpha Kappa Phi who is in good standing with the sorority and SUNY Geneseo. To be in good standing with the sorority means applicants mush have paid all dues and have no outstanding fines or obligations. Applicant must also be above 90% of total possible points for the current semester. The recipient must also be above 90% of total possible points for the current semester, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, and be able to demonstrate financial need. The Alpha Kappa Phi Scholarship fund was established in 1997 by Alpha Kappa Phi Inc. to assist its members financially with their educational expenses.

A scholarship given on an alternating basis to an outstanding student planning to major in Music and or Childhood Education and pursue a teaching career. This scholarship is supported by an endowment established by Dr. Wilbur Wright, Emeritus.
Prizes to be given to a student entering his/her senior year who best exemplifies the attributes and qualities of the chapter founders. Some of these attributes and qualities include (but are not limited to): scholarship, campus and community involvement, leadership, altruism, charity, kindness, and pride in Sigma Kappa. Underclassmen will nominate deserving seniors by writing a brief (1 page) statement detailing why that particular sister should receive this prize. The Alumnae Advisory Board will review all nominations and select the final winners.

$500 scholarship to an outstanding performer or director in Theatre. This special scholarship is supported by family and friends of the late Dr. John Barrett, professor emeritus of dramatic arts at SUNY Geneseo and a former chair of that department.

A $500 scholarship to an outstanding student in the Dance program. This scholarship was established by family and friends of the late Sue-Ann Queen Kreutter, Class of 1977, and continues to be supported by Stephen M. Kreutter, Class of 1979.

A scholarship to a theatre student who demonstrates academic excellence and who possesses a creative and dramatic spirit in technical theatre or design. Recipient selected by faculty in the theatre department.
A $1,000 scholarship to a student who demonstrates service to the College and/or larger community through volunteerism, student leadership, contribution to college life, involvement in campus programming events such as Activities Commission, IRC, IGC and other campus wide events, and completion of the bronze certificate in the GOLD Leadership Certificate Program. This scholarship is supported by Daniel B. Ward '87.
The Xerox Scholarships are part of the Xerox Center for Multicultural Teacher Education program, which was established in January 1996 to recruit , encourage and mentor Hispanics and other minorities to enroll at SUNY Geneseo to prepare for careers as school teachers. The Xerox Center for Multicultural Teacher Education is supported by a grant from the Xerox Foundation, which includes funds for scholarship assistance and grants.
