What is shakti?

Shakti is Geneseo’s South Asian Cultural Club! 'Shakti' means strength in Hindi, the national language of India. Our weekly meetings include discussing, sharing and learning about the diverse and unique cultures of South Asia.Throughout the year, Shakti participates in many on-campus events such as Intercultural Night and Lip-sync. Shakti also puts on many events and shows such as henna fundraisers and carrom tournaments. Sangamam, Shakti's biggest event of the year, is a dinner show that involves many members of Shakti, and other geneseo students. An offspring of Shakti, though a separate organization, Geneseo's Bhangra Team is one of the school's only competitive dance teams. Shakti is an ACE group and is funded by SA. Shakti always welcomes new members and ideas!
