Office of Sponsored Research Mission and Services
Our mission is to support, promote, develop, and coordinate the research, creative and scholarly activities of the College, through external and internal funding and other endeavors, in accordance with Geneseo's institutional mission.
For External Funding, the Office of Sponsored Research will:
- Identify potential sponsors
- Obtain and review sponsor guidelines and related information
- Contact sponsors’ program officers to discuss proposals
- Assist proposers in development of the proposal narrative and budget
- Complete form pages
- Refer proposers to appropriate committee(s) for approval of proposed project’s compliance with federal regulations
- Circulate the proposal for required College administrators’ approvals
- Navigate electronic proposal submission sites
- Submit the proposal to the sponsor
- Follow-up with the sponsor, including award negotiation
- Transmit award notifications and files to the Grants Management Office for post-award services
For Internal Support Programs, the Office of Sponsored Research will:
- Secure, coordinate, and administer internal funding opportunities for faculty and students
- Coordinate and administer GREAT Day – the annual college-wide student arts, research, and scholarship symposium
- Develop and review policies related to research
- Oversee compliance with internal policies and federal agency regulations
