Our Mission and Services

Mission

The mission of the Office of Sponsored Research is to support, promote, and develop the research and scholarly activities of the College, through internal and external funding and other endeavors, in accordance with Geneseo's institutional mission. 

Services Related to External Funding

• Identifying potential sponsors
• Securing sponsor guidelines and other information
• Contacting program officers to discuss your proposal
• Assisting in development of the proposal narrative and budget
• Completion of form pages
• Referral to appropriate committee(s) for regulatory compliance approvals
• Circulation of the proposal for required institutional approvals
• Navigating electronic proposal submission sites
• Duplicating of the proposal, as necessary
• Transmitting the proposal/copies to the sponsor (electronically or by mail)
• Follow-up with the sponsor, as appropriate
• Transmitting award notifications and files to the Grants Management Office for post-award services 

Other Services

In addition to our services related to external funding, the Office of Sponsored Research also coordinates other endeavors including:

• Internal funding programs for Faculty and Students
• GREAT Day -- our annual college-wide student arts, research, and scholarship symposium
• Development and review of policies related to research
• Regulatory compliance
