Study Abroad Mentor Program

What is a Study Abroad Mentor?

Study Abroad Mentors are Geneseo students who have taken the leap, and studied abroad through a SUNY-sponsored study abroad program.

They have studied abroad for as short as one week to as long as one year!

From Argentina to China and South Korea to South Africa, our mentors have studied all over the world and they are bringing their experience to the campus community.

Study Abroad Mentors are here to inspire and assist students in learning more about studying abroad with Geneseo and through the SUNY system.

What are Mentor Hours?

Mentor Hours are offered Monday through Friday, from 12:00-4:00 pm.  Each day, different Mentors are available for drop-in peer-to-peer advisement.

Interested in learning more about studying in a specific location? Find one of our mentors who has studied there and join her/him during their Mentor Hours to discuss your interest.

Just starting out with the study abroad search?  Our mentors are prepared to answer your general inquiries also!

Why talk to a mentor?

They’re students.  They’ve done it before.  They have been where you are today, and they want to see you succeed!
