Milne Writing-Learning Center

Scheduling a test

Testing Center in Milne Writing-Learning Center:

  • There are 3 stations for testing
  • Proctoring is accomplished through student proctors and closed-caption monitoring by my office. (Students are made aware that they are being observed on camera during testing.)
  • The hours are 8:45am to 3:15 (noon), Monday through Friday.
  • Due to the space and hour restrictions, appointments are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Accommodated tests take precedence over make-up exams as we try to make sure accommodated exams are given as close to the same time as class exams as possible, and the arrangements for accommodating exams may require more stringent scheduling.
  • Please remember one of the reasons we have not done this in the past is because this does not allow equal access to the professor during the exam. We try to alleviate this by asking you to provide us with a contact email or phone number in case the student needs a clarification or you discover a mistake on the exam.

To Schedule a Test:

  • Consult with the student about availability to take the exam (within the hours that the testing center is open). We ask that you arrange the time and date with the student as you are the only one who knows what date and what times you would like the test given. Check to see if the time is available through the use of The Testing Calendar. Times are blocked off as they are booked.
  • Contact the office (testcenter@geneseo.edu or x 5112) to reserve a space. You will receive an email confirmation that your testing space/time has been booked.
  • Fill out the Testing Center Information form and attach it to the test (either in email or a paper copy with the test delivered to our office). Please remember to do this as this is the only way we can ensure the student is following your instructions and policies. Also, be sure to fill out all information.
  • Deliver the test NO LESS THAN one day before the appt. This can be done with a hard copy (106A Erwin), through an email attachment (testcenter@geneseo.edu), or by fax (585-245-5032). Please do NOT email tests to either Janet Jackson or Tabitha Buggie-Hunt as we do not have access to each other's email, and therefore may not receive the test if one of us is out of the office.
  • If the student is more than 15 minutes late, or a no show, we will NOT automatically reschedule. They must speak with you. We cannot take that responsibility.
