The mission of the Kinetic Gallery is to provide a space where both student artists and student curators can gain professional exhibit experience, specifically through displays organized by Activities Commission Arts & Exhibits. The gallery features works from both student and outside artists and, through its exhibits, the Kinetic Gallery facilitates the development of an appreciation of and interest in the fine arts among all students.

NEW DEAL for the arts
Opening reception: September 5, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
A peek into the history courtesy of Livingston Arts, a community arts organization located in Mr. Morris. NEW DEAL unearths paintings from the 1930s and 40s, capturing life in America during the Great Depression and the largest government funded art project in America's history. Livingston Arts Executive Director Chris Norton will deliver a talk on New Deal history in the gallery from 3:30-4:40 p.m. with refreshments to follow.
Handed On by Kelsey Viola Wiskirchen
Opening reception: October 1, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Through a series of 30 larger-than-life-size woven panels, Missouri-based textile artist Kelsey Wiskirchen tells the story of a community of women in Bolivia while recounting her journey as an artist. Wiskirchen will deliver an artist's talk discussing weaving and the women who inspired her work in CU 325 on October 1 at 2:30 p.m. Participants will follow her to the gallery afterward for viewing and refreshments.

Alumna artist Briana Zimmerman will return to campus and the gallery she once managed to display new works in photography and mixed media.
Sand mandala mural in the College Union
Artist's talk: 7 p.m. in the College Union Ballroom
Sand artist Joe Mangrum will create a geometric mandala in the College Union foyer. Much like traditional mandalas made by Buddhist monks, this one will only be available to view for one day. Mangrum will host a talk to discuss the philosophies of sand art and the history behind his work.

The Kinetic Gallery will be open as a de-stress center with therapeutic art activities and crafts of all sorts.
