The Board shall serve as an advisory entity to foster the growth of the Klainer Center, to provide connections between Geneseo and the business community, and to raise funds to support the Klainer Center’s mission.
Each board member will provide at least one direct experience for a student or group of students each year. That might include coming to campus to meet informally with students around a topic of common interest, having a student shadow the board member at her/his workplace, providing paid or unpaid internships, serving as a mentor for teams working on the business plan competition, being a speaker or workshop presenter at the annual conference, etc.
The Board shall also identify the Selection subcommittee that will name the Honoree(s) at the Klainer Center’s Annual Conference. The Selection subcommittee should include at minimum: the School of Business Dean, a student, and a Board member. Criteria for selection will be developed by the subcommittee, subject to the approval of the Dean.
Each member shall serve a 2-year term. If mutually agreeable members may serve additional terms. The Board should be comprised of at least 8 members, with half of its members starting a term in alternating years.
Board members will participate in 2 general Board meetings per year (one in the fall and one in the spring), and are invited to serve on one subcommittee. Subcommittees meet and/or work their own projects and assignments as necessary. Subcommittees will report on their accomplishments and outstanding activities at the general Board meetings.
