Everyone has an opinion about leaders and what constitutes effective leadership. Everyone can be a leader and most of us will be called upon to lead at one time or another. Start or continue your leadership journey with this introductory session to the GOLD program and to the fascinating world of leadership concepts, myths, and possibilities. This required program serves as both an introduction and foundation to the leadership programs within the GOLD program. Within this highly interactive workshop, participants are asked to engage in a variety of activities. The activities range from self-reflection on what leadership means from a personal perspective, to identifying with leadership philosophies of a great number of leaders from both history and the present. Further, the instructor explains to the participants the nature and purpose of the GOLD program, the requirements for completion of the various certificates, and guides participants through a foundational understanding of what leadership is and what role everyone has to play as leaders.
