Guidelines for Letters of Recommendation

Please ask whether you meet the following criteria before approaching me for a recommendation or reference. 

For graduate studies, law school, and employment:

  • You must have taken at least two courses with me, including one at the 300 level
  • You must have earned a course grade above a B in each of the classes
  • I must know your name on sight
  • I should have a fairly good idea of your extra-curricular interests and activities

For scholarships and study abroad:

 Important Note: For letters regarding any of the above you must provide me with an updated resume and a list of all courses you have had with me and in which semester, as well as  your letter grade and your paper topic for the course, if applicable.
