Each semester, the Alpha Omega Pi Sorority participates in numerous philanthropic events because we believe that it truly makes a difference in other people's lives, not to mention our own.
For the past four semesters we have participated in a wheelchair basketball game with our brother fraternity, Sigma Nu Chi. We compete against a professional wheelchair basketball team. Needless to say, they beat us every time; however, we have a blast playing and help raise money for exceptional children at the same time.
Every spring, we host the Greek God Competition for breast cancer and donate the money to the American Cancer Society. Fraternity members compete in a mock-beauty pagent that is judged by sorority presidents. It's a great opportunity for members of greek life to bond over a worthy cause.
We also donate clothing to the Good Will, collect canned goods for food shelters, and participate in Relay For Life, the Rochester Breast Cancer Alliance Walk, and other local walks.
In recent years, we've taken pride in helping out our sisters in need. This has included huge fundraisers for cancer operations, donating money to relatives in the hospital, simply raising funds to causes close to our personal lives, etc.
If you have any questions about our Philanthropic activities, please contact Theresa Traver at tt4@geneseo.edu.
