- These notes are a summary of what I understand Prof. Macula talked about
- Torricelli’s law relates the rate at which the fluid level
in a container decreases as fluid pours out of a hole:
- dh/dt = k√h
- h = height of fluid above hole
- Can solve this for h
- Given two (time, height) pairs, you can solve for the constants
- e.g., h(0) = 13, h(22) = 9
- e.g., h(0) = 13, h(22) = 9
- Solve a similar differential equation, but starting with dh/dt = kh1/3 and with initial conditions h(0) = 16 and h(30) = 9
