We took this one in September 1999, just prior to making a purchase offer on the house. Compare this to...

...Spring 2001, after we painted the interior of the porch white, which we think really brightens it up. The flowering tree in the foreground is an Oreintal Cherry.

During our first summer (2000), we managed to stain our deck all by ourselves, though it was a pain! But doesn't it look nice with the hydragnea in bloom?
We finally bought some furniture for our deck in spring 2001, so now we can spend more time outdoors.
This view of the back of our house was taking from the cemetary. This particular area of the cemetary is not yet in use, but there will be graves here eventually!

Here are some nice pictures of the back of our house in the fall afternoon sunshine.

Another nice view of the deck;
in the forefront, you can see how our hydragnea turned pink for fall.
This picture was taken from more directly behind the deck, and you can see our patio leading to the walk-out basement to the left.
This picture was taken from the lower part of the yard looking back up at the deck; you can see our grapevine growing underneath (as well as our neighbor's house in the distant background).
This is underneath the deck, where we hung the windchimes that my mom gave us as a housewarming gift. That's a grapevine to the right--the vine is constantly trying to wrap itself around the chimes!
