Livingston CARES established a Haiti Relief Fund in January 2010 to assist the people of Haiti recover from the devastating earthquake. The fund was administered in collaboration with Dr. Rosemarie Chierici, Chair of the Anthropology Department at SUNY Geneseo. Dr.Chierici is a native of Haiti and has been developing a comprehensive health care system in one of the most impoverished regions of Haiti and has engaged students in service in Haiti for several years. The donations of over $7,000 were used for three projects: the resettlment of two families from the earquake area, the purchase of three mobile teacher boxes, and a nursery reforestation program. In November the cholera epidemic is affecting the Borgne area and many people are dying. All current funds donated to the Haiit Relief Fund will go to purchase water purification kits to help families cope with the cholera crises. Each $35.00 donation will purchase a kit to immediatley help stop the spread of cholera

Donations to the fund may be made on the Livingston CARES website's donation page using one of two options:
............(1) making a check payable to Livingston CARES Haiti Relief Fund, or
............(2) using the Network for Good credit card option with a notation that the donation is for the Haiti Relief Fund.
