Re:     Technology Planning Board

Date:     September 20, 1999

In February 1997, a set of recommendations made by the College’s Task Force on Technology was presented to then Provost Christopher Dahl. One of the Task Force’s major recommendations was the formation of an ongoing technology advisory committee to assist the College in meeting its academic mission through the effective implementation, usage and assessment of technology. This recommendation along with continuing discussion regarding technology over the past two years have led to the establishment of the current committee, The Technology Planning Board. President Dahl has asked me to constitute the committee membership and charge it with the following responsibilities:

President Dahl and I recognize the important responsibilities we are placing before the new Technology Planning Board. We look forward to receiving its observations and recommendations as we move into a new decade of academic excellence.

Attached is a document further developing the major points of this charge, an article from the Chronicle of Higher Education, and an article from Change, a publication of the American Association of Higher Education.
