9.1.2008: First E-Board Meeting at Conesus Lake
GEO (Geneseo Environmental Organization) is a group focused on environmental matters. Over the last year it has become one of the most active student organizations on campus, running energy savings contests, promoting recycling, holding a bottled water campaign, participating in Live Green day, working with the Genesee Valley Conservancy, and much more.
According to GEO's constituion: The Geneseo Environmental Organization's mission is to promote environmentally-friendly practices on our campus, in our community, in our state and in our world. In doing this we will promote good health, biological diversity and the sustainability of the Earth and its people. We do this by cleaning up right here in Geneseo, educating the Geneseo community and connecting with bigger environmental campaigns across the US.
- As always, GEO is promoting every day recycling, encouraging double-sided printing, and seeking out used printer cartridges. Turn in your used printer cartridges to your Hall Council Recycling Rep or find the GEO Printer Cartridge Shoebox in your hall, or just come to a GEO meeting to drop it off.
- The Recycling Subcommittee is going over the job description of Hall Council Recycling Reps to update and improve this position.
- GEO is developing a campaign to raise awareness about bottled water. Look for the sale of new aluminum water bottles in the Union soon. They are health friendly as well as environmentally friendly. Look for the water bottle display, now in Letchworth Dining Hall.
- April 25 - Arbor Day: GEO will be helping plant trees around campus. Stay tuned for more details.
- April 26 - Genesee Valley Conservancy: With much fun and success coming from last semester's visits, GEO plans to stop by the Conservancy again in late April.
- April 28 - Election results are in! Come to the final meeting of the year to discover GEO's Eboard Elect!
