REQUIREMENTS AND GRADING

1.-  2 Papers (36% of final grade):  There will be two papers, each four pages long.  They will be analytical papers, each requiring you to think carefully about some aspect of the works under consideration.  The papers are to be word-processed, double-spaced, and carefully proofread for mechanical errors.  Each assignment will be explained by a handout and will be discussed in detail in class.  Each paper will count for 18% of the final grade.

 

2.-  3 Examinations (54% of final grade):  Three hourly examinations, largely essay in format.  Each exam will count for 18% of the final grade.

 

3.-  Participation (10% of final grade):  Class discussion and some quizzes on the readings.  Come fully prepared.
