History

Gamma Chi Epsilon became part of the Geneseo community in 1966 as a chapter of the Gamma Chi fraternity. The organization's goal was to provide the men of Geneseo with an alternative to the types of fraternaties already represented in the university. In the mid-1980s Gamma Chi left the Inter Greek Council and became a non-dicriminating service organization (rather than a fraternity) and began accepting female members. Today the brothers and sisters of Gamma Chi welcome anyone with an open mind and a desire to build character and community into the organization.
