Ren's research has included following U.S. Route 6 from
end to end, from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, to Long Beach, California. She
spends as much time as she can driving a variety of
roads across the Beyond the American Highway, her research
includes topics in toponymy and cartography. She
has just finished a book on New York State Placenames
for Syracuse University Press (Spring 2004). In cartography, she has been
looking at how non-cartographers view and use maps, specifically how artists
think of maps when they create art that they call a map. The rest of her time is spent teaching
Cartography, Quantitative Research Methods, and a Writing Seminar: American
Highway, as well as that Geography of North America class; and being chair of
the Geography Department. |
