START A NEW STUDENT ORGANIZATION
Creating your own organization truly tests your qualities as a leader. You will have to develop an idea
that appeals to a group of students, formulate a plan for how your organization will serve this interest,
and recruit students to help you in your endeavor. But as a participant in the GOLD program, you will
have the skills and knowledge necessary to complete this task. You can make it happen!

BECOME A GOLD MENTOR
Being a GOLD mentor can be a great way to practice your leadership ability. As a mentor, you have the
opportunity to teach teambuilding workshops, develop community engagement projects, provide
support for GOLD programs, and serve as a guide for other students in the GOLD program.

BECOME A RESIDENT ASSISTANT
Serving as a resident assistant can be a great way to develop your skills as a relational leader. Resident
assistants cultivate appreciation for differences and similarities and foster the mutual respect and
emotional well-being of residents on-campus by providing cultural and social programming
activities.

JOIN STUDENT ASSOCIATION
The Student Association (SA) is the one organization at Geneseo of which every full time undergraduate
student is a member. Students become members of SA when they pay the mandatory student activity
fee each semester, but can also serve on the board of director who work to determine policies that
support student organizations, services, and programs which improve the quality of extracurricular life
at Geneseo.

JOIN ACTIVITIES COMMISSION
Activities Commission is the largest student run programming organization on campus. Comprised of up
to 18 students elected each year by the outgoing board, AC plans, organizes and executes dozens of
events each year, attracting thousands of students every semester. But in addition to those elected,
they also need help on a volunteer basis.

JOIN INTER-RESIDENCE COUNCIL
The Inter-Residence Council (IRC) is the nationally renowned standing committee of SUNY Geneseo's
student government, the Student Association. The IRC is composed of students, run by students, for
students. As the largest on-campus organization, the IRC is committed to providing a positive,
approachable, and effective student forum. The IRC strives to be the aware and involved voice of
Geneseo's residential community and seeks to create and support programs that develop a broader
intellectual, social, and cultural on-campus environment.
